The record of that most dreary 13th of Nisan, it seems likely that the reason our Lord was exceeding sorrowful was because he was cognizant of the millions of martyrs who would join him on his journey to the cross over the next two millennia

True servants of the Most High suffer, as though crucified. For that is what he commanded we do – “take up your cross and follow me.”

Because of this, suffering is the lot of the elect, those in whom the Holy Spirit of YhVh is found in their blood. Mentally, emotionally, and physically, this feature of their life is a most common element. The stronger the presence within the person, their greater their suffering upon the cross.

And they are called upon to serve in spite of all the satanic opposition arrayed against them financially, magically, and in duress. It is by these signs do we see and understand their true nature and relationship to Yeshua and The Father. The spirit is in the blood, and as His hearts beats with ours, His sorrows and sufferings are echoed in our lives and lifetimes.

In essence, this is Tribulation. Ongoing, never ending, and without mercy of any sort, except in the most rarest of cases.

The word martyr has an interesting etymology. It comes to us from the Greek word martus. In the Bible, it’s Strong’s #3144: “martus, mar’-toos; of uncert. affin.; a witness (lit. [judicially] or fig. [gen.]); by anal. a “martyr”:–martyr, record, witness.” A martyr is a witness. When a person shows a willingness to die for something, that level of commitment, that degree of willingness testifies of their great love giving honor to what is loved. The practical result of the martyr’s ultimate act of love is that their cause or belief is furthered.
