Edgar Hoover told Lyndon Johnson’s aide, Walter Jenkins, “The thing I am concerned about, and so is Mr. Katsenbach, is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin. Tell Mr. Bush I am doing what I can to keep his name out of things.”

According to a CIA source trying to distance themselves from the fact George Bush was senior agent in charge of the killing, “it was indicated that “now” the KGB was in possession of data purporting to indicate President Johnson was responsible for the assassination of the late President John F. Kennedy.
